Rule 20
Designating a polling station
(1) According to subsection (1) of Section 34 of the Act, the Commission shall designate a polling station in a public place, taking into account the number of voters, facilities and security conditions, so as to be accessible to all voters.
(2) When designating polling stations according to sub-rule (1), there should be at least one polling station in each ward of a rural municipality or municipality.
(3) The election officer shall publish the list of polling stations designated as per sub-rule (1) in his office.
(4) When publishing the list of polling stations according to sub-rule (3), it should also be clearly mentioned that the voters of which villages or tolls are allowed to vote in which polling station.
(5) If the number of voters voting in a polling station exceeds the number specified by the Commission or if another separate polling station has to be designated due to some other special circumstances, the election officer may designate a separate polling station with the approval of the Commission.
(6) From the point of view of security and convenience, the other bases to be adopted while designating the polling station shall be as determined by the Commission.
